Walter, Really
Bugger - going by the picture above and I've no need to inform you that I've gone and bought another bloody bike again. I admit to an addiction to bike buying - fuck me, this is my fourth this year, and with a fifth currently being built.
And so meet Sir Walter, Raleigh.
It's fitting that my new fixie should be a Raleigh. Being born in the Fair City and it's my birthright to ride one of the finest machines manufactured in Britain. Either that or I should have a free supply of JPS for life and endless free points on my Boots clubcard.
The fragrant mrs onionbagblogger is enforcing a strict one in, one out peddling policy. Mr Wilson of Peckham has been moved on, rather satisfying finding a good home somewhere in SE17.
Sir Walter needs a little restoration. I'm going to put on a pair of SPD's and run some Armadillos around the rims. He should ride like a (bad) dream, but that's the idea behind all this Fakenger piracy of the roads business.
I couldn't wait to pick up Sir Walter straight after work this evening.
'Don't worry - I'll look after him,' I told the previous Pirate of EC1. Five minutes later and I had fallen off the fucker just past the Farringdon Road.
I celebrated my new bike by wearing mon maillot jaune for the cycle back down to the Beautiful South. With a new frame and road style handling to get use to, Mr Yellow Jersey was overtaken on Blackfriars Bridge by some female coffin dodger cycling a Granny Bike.
'Bon journey!' the old dear bellowed out as she took me on my blind side. At least I've got just the one blind side, Granny.
I blame it all on Le Tour. That's an excuse I've wheeled out many a time this week. Late for work? Lost a cricket ticket? Went a little loopy as I dropped the kettle on the kitchen floor and threw a wobbler right in the face of the mrs obb?
That will be Le Tour then.
